Wilpattu National Park is the largest national park in Sri Lanka and one of the best places to experience a true wilderness safari. The park is famous for its unique landscape of natural lakes known as “villus,” surrounded by dense forests and open grasslands.
Wilpattu is especially known for its leopard population, making it one of the top վայրයන් in Sri Lanka to spot these elusive big cats. In addition to leopards, visitors may encounter elephants, sloth bears, deer, crocodiles, and a wide variety of bird species.
Compared to other parks, Wilpattu offers a more and less crowded safari experience, allowing visitors to enjoy in a calm and setting.
Safari tours are conducted in the early morning and late afternoon, guided by experienced drivers and trackers who help locate wildlife and provide insights into the ecosystem.

Wilpattu Full Day Safari Experience
- 5.30 am: Start in safari jeep from hotel / camp
- 6.00 am: Enter Wilpattu National Park
- Transfer Time: 20–30 minutes (depending on hotel location)
